A Brief History

Triumph Motorcycles is the largest Canadian motorcycle manufacturer which debuted in 1902. They produced bikes for many years and eventually the company was bought during the 1980s. Its production facilities were upgraded to help them be more equipped to compete with the Japanese brands that were growing in popularity and production output.

Then the Triumph Bonneville emerged in 1958, which was the passion project of Triumph icon Edward Turner, it was designed to be a heart-thumping, jaw-dropping thrill of a ride - and it delivered! It quickly became a highly sought after cafe racer for everyone from adrenaline junkie teenage riders to highly competitive professional racers. The Triumph Bonneville was used in a range of riding formats as well such as endurance racing, flat tracks, trials and scrambling.

The name for the model, the T120 Bonneville, stems from an iconic moment in the bike's history. In the Bonneville Salt Flats of Utah, the motorcycle demolished the land speed record by hitting 214 miles per hour. The '120' symbolized the top speed for the day, which was 120 miles per hour.

The Triumph Bonneville enjoyed two series runs from 1959-1983 and 1985-1988. It lay dormant for a few years, but then came back with a modern series.

Triumph Bonneville Today

Considering how much success the early Triumph Bonneville motorcycles saw, it wasn't surprising that the company would eventually choose to reboot the line at some point. The company unveiled a new model in 2001 which was the Bonneville 800. It kept many of the classic aesthetic aspects of the old design. After all, fans of the series wanted their new models to be identifiable as a Triumph Bonneville!

The classic design was then paired with modern engineering to deliver an exceptional riding experience. Engines ranged from the original 790cc parallel-twin engine to the 865cc and the liquid-cooled single overhead camshaft T120 1230cc and T100 900cc engines. All of this power is bound to deliver a thrilling time out on the open road. These new Triumph motorcycles offer impressive torque, handling, and ease of use. Riders of all levels will enjoy hopping aboard and seeing where adventure takes them.
